Autistic children often have an unusual sensitivity and preference for music. Music is an engaging stimulus for autistic children and many children can participate in musical activities with success. Because of these factors music therapy can be a very valuable tool in the treatment of Autism. Music can be an very effective motivator for autistic children to learn non musical material, to provide positive sensory experiences, decrease self stimulatory behaviours, improve social behaviours and relationships, enhance motor coordination and improve communication skills.
